Man sollte es kaum für möglich halten, aber es gibt tatsächlich kaum serifenlose Schriften, deren kleines l auch die Form eines »l« hat. Stattdessen müssen wir Leser uns ständig ein I für ein l vormachen lassen! Die wenigen Satzschriften, die ein l mit gebogenem „Fuß“ enthalten, entstanden erst in neuester Zeit, wie DIN, Apex, Meta, ... und damit endet die Aufzählung auch schon wieder. |
Believe it or not, there are hardly any sans serif fonts in which the lower case letter “l” also has the hooked form of an »l«. Instead, we readers have to constantly distinguish whether we are seeing an uppercase “I” or a lower case “l” – just take a look at the word “Illinois”…The few typefaces which include an l with a hooked “foot” were created recently such as DIN, Apex, Meta and…well, that’s it. |

Der hier vorgestellte ingoFont – die Analogue Pro – entstand genau aus diesem Mangel: nämlich eine möglichst »gewöhnliche«, ja klassische Schrift zu schaffen, die als auffälligstes Merkmal das „Krücken-l“ hat. Als Vorbild diente hierzu die »Mutter aller Serifenlosen«, die Akzidenz Grotesk von Berthold, deren Ursprünge bis ins 19. Jahrhundert reichen. Die Analogue Pro ist quasi die Neuinterpretation der Akzidenz Grotesk von ingoFonts. Dazu sind alle Zeichen – ausgehend vom Vorbild – neu ausgearbeitet worden. |
This ingoFont – Analogue Pro – was developed for exactly this reason. The intent: To create a pretty much »ordinary«, even classical font with its most striking characteristic being the inclusion of the “crooked l.” As a model, the »mother of all sans serifs« was used, Akzidenz Grotesk from Berthold, with its beginnings going back to the 19th century. Analogue Pro is so to say a new interpretation of Akzidenz Grotesk from ingoFonts. All characters - following the model – have been newly developed. |

Die schrägen Schnitte – eine echte Kursive ist es ja nicht – sind mit 13° spürbar stärker geneigt als die Italics in vergleichbaren Schriften und erhielten überdies ein eigenwilliges rundes e, um sich im Schriftbild noch deutlicher von der Aufrechten zu unterscheiden. |
The slanted versions – it isn’t truly a real cursive font – are noticeably stronger with 13° than the italics in comparable fonts, and were given a round e with a mind of its own which distinguishes itself considerably compared to the upright characters in the overall appearance of the font. |

Bei einigen Zeichen wurden im Detail andere, modernere formale Lösungen gewählt, so zum Beispiel in den Zusammenläufen der Striche bei den spitzen Formen wie bei A, M, N, V, W. Das M erhielt leicht angeschrägte Schenkel; das a spiegelt die Kurven des s; die Füße von a, l, t sind aufeinander abgestimmt; die ausgestellten Füße von K und R wurden leicht dynamisiert. Die allgemeinen Proportionen wurden von der Akzidenz Grotesk fast unverändert übernommen, ebenso die schrägen Anschnitte bei den offenen Formen von a, c, e, s; C, G und S erhielten dagegen gerade Abschlüsse. |
More modern and formal solutions in detail were chosen for some of the characters, for example the way the strokes run together in sharp forms as seen in A, M, N, V and W. The M was given lightly slanted sides; the a reflects the curves of the s; the “feet” of a, l and t match; the flared legs of K and R are slightly energized. General proportions were carried over almost completely with no changes from Akzidenz Grotesk as well as the slanted trimming on the open forms of a, c, e, s; in comparison, C, G and S were given straight endings. |

Die Analogue Pro enthält mehrere Ligaturen, auch seltene, sowie Ziffern für den normalen Satz als auch Tabellenziffern mit gleichbleibender Breite. Ausserdem unterstützt die Analogue Pro dank OpenType und Unicode sämtliche europäischen Sprachen einschliesslich Türkisch, Griechisch und Russisch. |
Analogue Pro contains many ligatures, even discretional ones, plus numerals for normal setting and also tabular figures with consistent widths. Thanks to OpenType and Unicode, Analogue Pro supports all European languages including Turkish, Greek and Russian. |
